This week, I dive into the world of endurance training and answered one of my Twitter followers, B’s question on running her first 5k run.
I remembered my first fun run as if it was just yesterday. Partly because it was my very first milestone after I lost a ton of weight and also because I finished it in a time that I can personally be proud of.
One thing for sure, if it’s your very first race, make sure you have fun. When I was training for my first run, I was so caught up by the number on my stopwatch that during the final few weeks of training, I simply burned out not because I trained so hard, but because I was too serious about it.
Once you can get into that mindset, start training by doing the right exercises. Interval runs is great to build up your oxygen output and speed and don’t forget to incorporate some strength exercises too.
